CheckMate is a 32-bit Windows application. The zip package can be downloaded here (Version 1.1.1f; 2.3 MB download). [Note: This is the free version of the software, which limits you to checking your content against 25 rules. Please email for information about the full version of CheckMate.]

Installation

Unzip the downloaded zip file to a suitable location, e.g. C:\CheckMate.
Make sure this folder contains the CheckMate .exe file (the main application) and checkmate.ini, which is the configuration file that specifies where the application should look for XML and script files. Edit the locations specified in the .ini as necessary and save the file.
Move the sample XML document (sample-file.xml) to the XML file location specified in the .ini file.
Move the sample script file (sample-rules.cms) to the script file location specified in the .ini file.
If everything is set up correctly you should be able to launch CheckMate, load the sample XML file and sample rules, and validate the former against the latter.

Note: the sample XML file and CSL script are to be found in sub-folders in the zip package.
