About CheckMate

CheckMate is a simple 32-bit Windows software application for determining whether an XML or XHTML document conforms to a set of structural rules, even when you don't have a DTD or schema. Rules are written in CSL (CheckMate Scripting Language), a simple but expressive language well-suited to the rapid development of powerful validation rules. CheckMate has a graphical user interface that makes it easy to locate any structural errors, and error reports can be saved as well-formed XML documents that identify error locations by path strings. It is envisaged that CheckMate will usually be used in conjunction with an XML editing tool such as Notepad++.

For more information, see the CheckMate Quick Guide. Or just download the software and have a play!

Future developments

Powerful new features are in the pipeline, including extensions to CSL to make it even more capable and expressive. Also on the roadmap is a Windows console application version, to enable CheckMate and CSL scripts to be used in more automated XML document production settings.
